ABOUT THE SAT
The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) is one of two entrance exams most colleges in the U.S. use to determine a students’ readiness for their curriculums. In making admissions decisions, colleges consider applicants’ SAT scores along with a number of other factors: Grade Point Average, Rigor of Curriculum, Extracurricular Activities, Personal Statements, Letters of recommendation, and Interviews.
The SAT (Duration: 3 hours and 50 minutes, including the Essay section) is divided into four parts: the Reading Test, the Writing and Language Test, the Math Test, and the optional Essay.
There are eight SAT test dates each year in August, September, October, November, December, March, May, and June. Students may take the SAT any time in the five years preceding their application deadlines. In general, students take the SAT for the first time in their junior years, and then they may sit again for the test in the fall of their senior years.
